Attractive modernist travel poster issued by Aeroflot, the official national airline of the Soviet Union.
The map highlights exclusively domestic routes within the Soviet Union. Interestingly, though not particularly unusual for the time, the routes lack the typical hub-and-spoke arrangement of modern air travel, wherein large planes travel long distances to major airports and from there fan out to regional airports. According to the map, it would have taken nine or more flights to get from Moscow to Vladivostock, for instance. Today on Aeroflot, that is a single 8-hour flight.
