[Uniforms and Insignia of the German Army] Форма Обмундирования и Знаки Различия Германской Армии

A very rare pre-World War II Soviet poster of Nazi-era German military uniforms.

Underneath the title is an elaboration of colors used on the strap edging and buttonholes of troop uniforms, depending on their area of service. From left to right: Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, Engineer Troops (Sapers), Mechanized Troops, Medics, Officers, Jaeger, Shock Troops, and Signal Corps.

Below that are the epaulets from General to Schützen. Clockwise from upper-left are the following flags: Flag of the German State; Reichskriegsflagge, the war flag and naval ensign of the Wehrmacht; Banner of the Kriegsmarine (erroneous, this is the Nazi party flag); military aviation flag.

Wehrmacht uniforms from General to Schützen are shown below the epaulets. In the lower half of the map are the uniforms and insignia of pilots (far left), the Kriegrsmarine (center), and Jaeger field uniforms (far right).

The poster's "author" was F.P. Konov and the artist was I.A. Milicin. The poster was published by the ИЗОГИЗ (Visual Art Publishing House) division of ОГИЗ, the Association of State Book and Magazine Publishing Houses.

Rarity

The limitation notice lists a printing of 25,000. In spite of that print run (which was relatively small by Soviet standards) the poster is extremely rare today. This is the first time we have seen it. We have not found other copies for sale, in institutional collections or illustrations online.
