Not Just a Prospect But a GOLD MINE (Monteverde Gold Mine)

Interesting and very rare promotional map for what was in all likelihood a gold mine scam perpetrated in the early 1930s.

In breathless language, the sheet solicits investment in the "Monteverde Gold Mine", supposedly located in southwest Chihuahua, Mexico, while drawing comparisons to the successful contemporary, but unrelated, mines.

The sheet includes an inset "Artist's Conception of Monteverde Gold Mine in State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Successful exploration works enables artist to graphically depict cross-section of this mountain containing rich known gold deposits of the Carman Vein."

Interestingly, the pamphlet includes no obvious information on how to accomplish the call to action; there is no contact information, company name, or U.S. location that could be used to track it back to those promoting the mine. It's possible that such information would have been included in a separate sheet accompanying the map, or that the solicitation for investment would have been made in person by a traveling salesman.

The back of the sheet includes numerous reproduced news clippings relating the success of other mines and the gold market in general.
