Rare early view of Bordeaux, published in Paris by Jean Boisseau.
A fine early panoramic view of the city of Bordeaux from the east, with the Garonne River in the foreground.
Bourdeaux's Roman amphitheater, Le Palais Galien, is shown at far right, and several other important buildings in the city are labeled. The Garonne River is filled with large galleons and numerous small vessels, with a ship under construction on the bank of the river at left.
The view was published in Jean Boisseau's extremely rare Theatre des Citez, ou Recueil de Plusieurs Villes... This work tends to be a composite, with no two copies being identical in contents.
