Interesting manuscript map of a part of Yuba County, Northeast of Yuba City and Northwest of Grass Valley, extending from the Yuba River in the south, beyond Sicard Flat and extending north toward Oroville along the Smith Valley.

The map and manuscript comprise a petition to the Yuba County commissioners to construct a road, as shown on the map. The remainder of the petition can be seen here: /gallery/enlarge/33427

The map identifies the Canyon Road, which was established in 1859, along with two proposed roads, other existing roads, a bridge, creeks, topography and land owners, along with 2 school houses (including the Peoria School House) and other details. The petition identifies the land owners supporting and opposing the Road and the amount of damage claimed by the adverse landowners for use of their lands.
