Religious Center Inter-American University San German, Puerto Rico

This circa 1964 Alfonso Alvarez architectural rendering painting (executed by A. Davoll) shows a proposed religious center on the campus of the Inter-American University in San German, Puerto Rico.

Alvarez's proposed design is impressive, although it was ultimately not the design selected for the project. The whole complex has a tropical modernist styling with palm trees and stark white angles and surfaces.

Today, the Paul A. Wolfe Memorial Chapel stands on Inter-American University's campus. Construction began on the chapel and its related buildings in 1967.

This is a unique work of art for a design competition that was held for the University around 1964.
