Scarce early promotional map of Utah, published shortly after the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad on May 10, 1869.
The map includes large insets of the Salt Lake Valley and early Plat of the town, including a key locating 12 points of interest, including the first temple, Brigham Young's residence and offices, and the General Railroad Depot, among other details. Also includes a portrait of Brigham Young, with a signature and the word "correct."
The primary map includes nice details concerning towns, rivers, mountains, roads, forts, counties, the Overland Mail Route, Railroads, Gunnison's Route, etc.
The map was issued in two editions, the Osborne Press and the Skandinavisk Post, both of NY.
