This is a map of the Americas, used as the cover for the 1943 edition of the American Junior Red Cross News. The map shows the activities of children all throughout the America, dressed in regional clothing and partaking at various games.

While children throughout the US had been trying to help out the Red Cross almost since is 1881 inception, the Junior Red Cross was founded in earnest during World War I. During the war effort, members of the organization managed to raise over three and a half million dollars. Nearly twenty million members joined once again during World War II. A particular focus of the organization was always on children helping children.

The verso contains the notes from several letters addressed to the members of the Junior Red Cross who helped with the donation of toys and other comforts to children in the UK during the war. A short poem is also included, decorated by Helen Sewell, the famous American children's illustrator.
