The most extensive importer, breeder and seller of registered horses in the United States

Fine chromolithographic image of this outstanding horse farm in Greeley, Iowa.

On the barns Holbert advertises that he carries the following breeds: Percherons, Belgians, and English Shires, as well as draft, coach and hackney horses.

In 1878, Holbert Horse Importing Company was established in the Delaware County town of Greeley and quickly garnered an international reputation for horse selling and breeding. Founder A.B. Holbert had an international reputation and was considered "the most extensive importer, breeder and seller of registered horses in the United States" ( History of Delaware County, Iowa, Chicago: S.J. Clarke Company, 1914).
