Fine pictorial map of the United States, drawn by R.L. McCollister and published for the New England Homestead Journal.
The map presents and exceptionally dense historical montage of events and vignettes illustrating the history of the United States, with a chronological list of historical events across the top.
Three large vignettes across the top depict "War Between the States", "Westward Expansion" and the "Revolutionary War."
On the verso is a curious projection of the World on a single sphere and a biographical list of the American Presidents, up to Eisenhower.
The map was likely republished over a period of several years, as a later edition exists, with historical dates up to March 1858 (added at the top).
