Early Chart of Barbados in Fine Contemporary Color
Fine contemporary colored example of Gerard Van Keulen's rare sea chart of Barbados.
The chart is oriented with west at the top, illustrating Barbados in exceptional details. Within the interior parts of the island, windmills, watermills and gristmills are separately denoted.
The map shows dozens of plantations and small settlements, connected by roads through the interior parts of the island. Along the coastline, harbors and anchorages are noted, with soundings in several sections.
Parish towns and other major towns noted in red.
Includes a large inset of "S Michaels or Bridge Town" and four profile views showing approaches to the island.
Rarity
The chart is very rare on the market, especially so in full contemporary color.
