Rare late edition of Johanne Baptiste Nolin's map of America, first issued nearly 100 years earlier.
The present example is noteworthy for its use of extremely old/dated cartographic detail. The map was updated in the latter part of the 18th Century to include a number of voyages of exploration, including Cook, Byron, Bouganville, Furneaux, etc. but is primarily based in the first half of the 18th Century.
While we have seen other late states of this map, the 1817 date is by far the latest and apparently quite rare.
